Hi, everyone !!!

I was a Senior here back in 1988 and had a lot of fun in Ritzville. It was a great experience to spend a whole year living with you people. I'll never forget this town or its unhabitants.
Last summer, I went back to Ritzville for the first time in 16 years and it was so emotional.
I got to meet Mr.Lynch and Mrs.Schwisow, and also had the chance to see the school again. Besides them, I got to meet some people who still remembered me as the "kicker". It was incredible they knew me after so many years...

I just want to THANK YOU guys for being so nice to me. When I came to Ritzville, I was a 16 year-old kid from the other part of the world but I always felt home when I was here.

"Oh, Ritzville Broncos, let's shout it out. We have the best darn team without a doubt, and we will yell, yell, for all of you, our alma mater we will cheer our pra** to... and we will lead our team to another score, and we will cheer them, cheer them all the more, 'cause there's no wonder we are so proud of that. Read and black, red and black !..."

Many thanx to the Ritzville alumni, and to the people of Ritzville, who obviously did an enormous amount of work to pull off this weekend's affairs!! It was a great success from my point of view; I just wish I had had more time to do all the things offered! And Howard, I hope this site has now been added to everyone's `favorite' listings!! Thank you ...... (and a `shame on you' to the folks who could-a attended, but did not!!)

Thanks for the super site!...Let's hear from any classmates from the "great" class of 1966. Reminder, as if any of us need it, our 40th reunion in 2006! Guess we better start planning!

To whomever it may concern,

Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the Alumni Association's 100th anniversary as well as the reunion of the class of 1955, of which I was a member. On the positive side, however, I'll do whatever is necessary to attend my 100th class reunion in 2055. By then, my former classmates may have lost some of their good looks, but it's the inner beauty that is of far greater value.
Two things come to mind. The first one is this. Ritzville, this small town situated between Spokane and Moses Lake, for me personally was a hospitable, friendly, and memorable community. It's citizens are honorable, trustworthy, ambitious, and active citizens who are working with their minds, their hands and their hearts to respect and cherish the past and to create and prepare a future of promise and goodwill. (In particular I looked up to the farmers who, day after day, worked harder than most people I know.)
When my family arrived from Germany in the summer of 1953, the Harders and Thiels raised cattle, the Circle-T prepared beef dinners with mash potatoes, Martin ran the bowling alley, the elder Mr.Templin harvested crops, and Mr. Benzel sold Fords. All of these people were dedicated and hard-working who strived to make progress and to make life better and enjoyable for their families and in a larger sense, for the entire community. Thus I have pleasant and unforgettable memories of several decent people who, 50 years later, in 2005, may have found their final resting place at Ritzville's quiet cemetery or elsewhere. I respected the roles they played in their community. They helped build and preserve a civil and democratic society that upheld certain human values without which the human race cannot survive.
The second thought about Ritzville relates to the school system. The high school I entered in 1953, and from which I graduated in 1955, was a blessing for me. During the difficult school years in post-war Germany, my academic performance suffered, and so did I. However, once I had entered Ritzville High School I received several precious gifts, above all, several fine teachers who believed in what they taught, who taught with enthusiasm and dedication, and who respected and motivated their students.
When I think of Ritzville today, I never fail to remember my teachers, my classmates and a few other students. Teachers have an obligation to teach their students well, and when they do, students shall be eager to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Indeed, great teachers often are a source of inspiration, knowledge, and trust. I am grateful to some teachers in whom I trusted, for example Bernice Oliver, Leland Irwin, Melvin Hurst, and Velma McClellan...
Of course, education costs money, but taxpayers will contribute more generously if they fully trust the educational mission of their school, their school directors, and their teachers. To the Ritzville Alumni Association I say this: Congratulations to what you have accomplished over the years. Continue to support the educational process in the years ahead in both words and deeds. Support your teachers, hire the best you can find, expect from them sound credentials, full knowledge of their subject matter, and love of learning and teaching. And try to pay them as much as your community can afford.
One more thought: Good teachers should express their preferences for issues of diversity and equality, and to make students sensitive to the need for tolerance, justice, humanity, freedom, and peace.
Again, accept my congratulations on the occasion of celebrating this historic 100th Anniversary.
The work you have done is commendable. As a result, this generation and future generations shall respect you and thank you.
With best wishes,

Hans M. Wuerth '55

A very nicely done site and a great way to keep in touch with everything going on back at the old stomping grounds. Look forward to seeing everyone there for the 100th.

The website looks wonderful! I was wondering about an alumni newsletter. Is there one that we can get on a mailing list or is there any plans for one? Keep up the great work.

Enjoyed seeing who all signed the guest book. Don't see any class mates from the class of 1963! Hope to see more in the future. Class of "63" is planning a turning "60" years of age get together this June in Spokane, get in touch if you haven't been contacted. Unfortunately, will not make the 100th celebration. Great idea, hope you keep the site going. Sharon.
